Achievo is a flexible web-based project management tool for business-environments. Achievo's project and resource management capabilities will enable organisations to support their business processes in a simple, but effective manner.


Command based accounting project. Not so user friendly but produces good postcript reports. Written in perl.

CDN Payroll

Cdn Payroll is a collection of python modules which calculates withholdings based on the most recent federal publication t4127_0201-e effective January 2002. This includes significant changes in the calculation of taxes for Nunavut, Yukon and the Northwest Territories.


CK-Ledger with 9 modules (LedgerAdmin, Ledger, Inventory, Service, AP, AR, PO, SO, Quotation) is written in PHP and runs above phpGroupWare. It provides accounting functionalities for SMEs & utilizes phpgw to admin accounts/groups.


Compiere is and Open Source ERP solution based on Oracle which has been sponsored by Goodyear Germany. It uses Java on the client side and seems to have a Web client. The product looks very serious.


An efficient and flexible data mining toolbox (called DMtools) based on the scripting language Python, which is capable of handling common tasks in data mining. Two core features of the toolbox are caching of database queries and parallelism within a collection of independent queries. The toolbox provides a number of routines for basic data mining tasks on top of which the user can add more functions - mainly domain and data collection dependent - for complex and time consuming data mining tasks.

FreeGEBIG (in French)

FreeGEBIG is a free accounting and order management solution published under GPL license. It is however based on a proprietary commercial COBOL environment which is required.

GNU Entreprise

GNU Enterprise (GNUe) is a suite of tools and applications for solving the needs of the enterprise. From human resources, accounting, customer relationship management and project management to supply chain or e-commerce, GNUe can handle the needs of any business, large or small. It is still a very early project.

Gnu Regression, Econometrics and Time-series Library

gretl is a cross-platform software package for econometric analysis, written in the C programming language. It is is free software. You may redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) as published by the Free Software Foundation.


GnuCash is a very nice personal finance software which can eventually be used to implement a very basic accounting system. It includes nice features such as reporting and reconciliation. It is advisable for personal use, for an individual company or for education. It is not advisable however as soon as invoicing, billing and payment tracking is required.

Lemur OLAP Library

Lemur OLAP is an open source (GPL) MOLAP library written in C++. In reality, we are going beyond MOLAP to HOLAP.

Mondrian is an OLAP server written in Java. It enables you to interactively analyze very large datasets stored in SQL databases without writing SQL.

Basic accounting solution for small companies and individual companies. Runs on DOS and Linux. GPLed. Console interface.


Nola is very similar to SQL ledger. It includes more features (ex. payroll) but is less international. It is developped in PHP.

Open for Business (OfBiz)

The Open For Business Project is an open source enterprise automation software project licensed under the MIT Open Source License. The goal of the project is to build a community of end users and developers that work together directly to create easy to customize business software based on best practices.

Orange is a component-based data mining software. It includes a range of preprocessing, modelling and data exploration techniques. It is based on C++ components, that are accessed either directly (not very common), through Python scripts (easier and better), or through GUI objects called Orange Widgets.

A tool for creating OLAP solutions on top of PostgreSQL, including an optional integration with PostGis - for Spatial OLAP. Results are presented in two formats: in a spreadsheet frame (conventional data), and in maps (geographical data - if any). This tool is supported by a methodology for integration between OLAP and Spatial Modeling using UML, for the implementation of Analictical Geographical Information Systems (GIS). The original work is a Master´s Thesis by Giovani Colonese, advisored by Asterio Kyioshi Tanaka and Rogerio Atem de Carvalho.


QtTudo is a program for ERP (enterprise resource planning) and administrative accounting. It is based on Linux and postgres.

R Project

R is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. It is a GNU project which is similar to the S language and environment which was developed at Bell Laboratories (formerly AT&T;, now Lucent Technologies) by John Chambers and colleagues. R can be considered as a different implementation of S. There are some important differences, but much code written for S runs unaltered under R.

R provides a wide variety of statistical (linear and nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis, classification, clustering, ...) and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible. The S language is often the vehicle of choice for research in statistical methodology, and R provides an Open Source route to participation in that activity

SQL Ledger

SQL Ledger provides basic accounting, invoicing billing and payment. It is based on perl and PosgreSQL. It is compatible with most SQL databases. It has been translated and localised in about 20 languages. Although quite simple, it is very well designed for a small company.


SugarCRM is a provider of commercial open source customer relationship management (CRM) software for companies of all sizes.


XUL / PostgreSQL based ERP solution made in Caen (France).

UNGI Facturier
