Open Portal. ERP5 is first of all a multilingual portal which provides a complete ERP reference to developers and consultants. Information related to ERP systems in general and ERP5 in particular is published there: URLs to legal accounting texts, to useful software, to management textbooks, ERP5 news, technical notes, downloadable code, etc. R&D projects and special interest groups are also hosted on www.erp5.org in so-called "workspaces".
GPL Framework. ERP5 is a generic ERP framework which covers a wider range of applications than traditional ERPs thanks to extensible component technology. ERP5 is Free Software: it consists of more than 100,000 lines of python and XML code published under GPL licence. ERP5 code can be freely redistributed, customised or extended by ERP5 service providers or by ERP5 users.
Business Templates are software packages which instantly turn the ERP5 framework into a meaninful application. Business Templates consist of XML code which instantiates generic modules (accounting, PDM, MRP, CRM, etc.) or industry specific modules (Apparel, Banking, etc.). Business Templates are the preferred way of sharing and publishing ERP5 based application on the ERP5 Open Portal.
ERP5 LiveCD is the easiest way of operating an ERP5 server. The LiveCD includes all technologies required to run ERP5: operating system, database server, application server, web server, clustering, etc.. Installation takes less than 5 minutes and requires no human intervention. ERP5 data is stored on hard disk.
