Press Release

Paris (France), Tokyo (Japan) - June 18th, 2012. Nexedi, creator of ERP5 open source ERP and inventor of decentralized Cloud Computing, will introduce at the Solutions Linux exhibition in Paris, low cost and eco-friendly Cloud Computing for Government applications. The service based on SlapOS technology provides 90% cost savings compared to legacy virtualization technology. It leads to 75% energy savings compared to traditional server infrastructure. It supports resiliency to force majeure events such as terrorism, natural disaster, war or strikes.

Jean-Paul Smets, CEO of Nexedi, says: "For a annual fee of 200,000 EUR, Nexedi can turn any government IT infrastructure into a powerful Cloud Computing environment with 24/7 support. Yearly operating cost per user and per application can be as low as 1 EUR, 10 times less than the closest competitor."

Thierry Brettnacher, VP Consulting at Nexedi, adds: "Some governments looking for sovereign Cloud Computing are funding nationally developped proprietary technologies which rely on 20 years old concepts such as virtualization, storage area network, bandwidth reservation, etc. The result is often more expensive - and less resilient - than connecting a desktop PC to an optical fiber at home, according to the International Working Group on Cloud Resiliency (IWGCR). By using SlapOS instead, governments could achieve tremendous savings compared to outdated technologies."

Cédric de Saint Martin, SlapOS community manager, explains: "SlapOS architecture achieves low cost through simplicity and compatibility. SlapOS covers all aspects of a Cloud with only 2 Common Off the Shelf Software (COTS) where competition usually needs more than 20 . It supports containers - in addition to or instead of virtualization - and hosts 10 times more applications with the same hardware. SlapOS is compatible with all operating systems: Android, BSD, Linux, MacOS, Windows, etc. It supports any IaaS: kvm, xen, OpenNebula, OpenStack, VMWare, Eucalyptus, NiftyName, Amazon EC2, GANDI, etc. And it is already compatible with non Intel architecture such as ARM, SPARC or POWER."

Yusei Tahara, CEO of Nexedi KK, concludes: "SlapOS is now mature. It was already deployed for mission critical applications in the banking, payment, accounting, aerospace and chemical industries in Africa, Europe and Japan. Nexedi is now looking for new partnerships worldwide."
